Paul Shum Family Butchers wins Countryside Alliance Awards for best Midlands Butcher

We are so proud to have been awarded ‘Champion Butcher’ for the Midlands region by the Countryside Alliance, also known as the ‘Rural Oscars’.

In association with the Daily Telegraph and Farmers' Guardian, the prestigious award was presented to Paul and Catriona Shum in a ceremony in the House of Lords on 17th May. Baroness Mallalieu, President of the Countryside Alliance, presented the award.

“Our winners celebrate and honour rural communities and the role that they play in keeping them together is crucial. Our winners' promotion and defence of produce, skills and rural life deserve all the credit it gets. The Countryside Alliance is proud to be honouring a group of people who are passionate about their countryside and providing quality goods, services and employment to rural communities and beyond” (Countryside Alliance).

With twenty six years of butchery and retail knowledge Paul launched his own butchers shop in 2018. Since that time the business has moved into larger premises at Woodmill Farm, opened its own kitchen facilities with two cooks and the staff has grown from 2 to eleven. Paul and the team are committed to providing the very best quality meat alongside fresh fruit and vegetables and a thriving, popular deli counter with cheese, pâté, cured meats, home-made pasties, sausage rolls, pork pie, quiche, and lots of other treats.

“We are absolutely delighted” commented Paul. “This award was voted for by customers which makes it all the more special. We have had nothing but fantastic support from the team here, local community and also shoppers who travel many miles to see us. It’s an incredible honour and a standard we’ll always uphold” he finished.
